Challenge

To help customers make confident decisions without spending hours configuring products from scratch, eSafe needed a solution that could automatically generate tailored starting configurations. These presets are based on user-input parameters, technical rules, and industry best practices — saving time while ensuring compatibility and optimal performance. At the same time, the solution had to seamlessly integrate into the existing ecommerce workflow, enabling real-time product visualization in real-life contexts.

At the heart of the solution is a truly dynamic configurator, built without hardcoded templates or static defaults. Instead of forcing users to sift through preconfigured options, the system brings in its intelligence and domain expertise to generate smart starting points based on the user’s input. This means users aren’t just filtering existing products. They get tailored configurations that already align with technical rules, installation requirements, and proven best practices. They can:

Define all key parameters such as the number of boxes, dimensions, mounting type, and finish, ensuring the configuration fits their exact needs and environment from the very start.

Get up to five smart starting configurations generated instantly based on their input, and choose the one they want to customize further.

Drag and drop boxes into a grid layout.

Add or remove rows and columns freely.

Use intelligent hints that guide them through actions (e.g., which elements can be deleted or replaced).

Select lock types, personalize boxes with text and colour, and other modular options.

2. Smart UI with real-time feedback

The configurator features a responsive interface with:

  • Real-time visual updates.
  • User guidance with context-sensitive tips and suggestions.
  • Drag-and-drop functionality, making even complex setups feel accessible.
  • Adjustable text modules — useful for apartment numbers, labels, or branding.

3. Full ecommerce integration

The configurator was seamlessly integrated into eSafe’s existing online store and ERP system, enabling the transfer of complete configuration data, including bill of materials (BOM) and item references, directly into the backend. This allows the store to generate accurate quotes and proceed with order processing while keeping pricing logic and final calculations centralized in the ERP or ecommerce platform.

4. Unique 3D scene creation.

One of the most distinctive features of this project was the creation of fully custom 3D environments. Unlike many configurators that rely on pre-made or stock scenes, CanvasLogic designed all the 3D scenes from scratch.
These scenes represented realistic installation environments such as:

  • Outdoor settings (fences, walls, porches);
  • Indoor placements;
  • Building facades.

Creating these scenes in-house gave full control over visual quality, perspective, and responsiveness. When the overall configuration changes — for example, by adding extra boxes or columns — the environment dynamically adapts to reflect those changes realistically. This required intelligent rendering logic and careful post-processing to ensure that every scene remains cohesive, balanced, and free from visual artifacts.

5. Mobile optimization.

To accommodate mobile users, CanvasLogic developed lightweight versions of the 3D scenes. These optimized assets load quickly without compromising visual quality, ensuring a smooth experience on all devices.
