Challenge
The challenge Automata faced was the insufficiency of conventional sales methods for their innovative product. Their revolutionary hardware, consisting of standard benches, robotic arms, conveyors, and laboratory equipment, was difficult to visualize. Initially, they addressed this by uploading 3D models to JigSpace. However, JigSpace primarily demonstrated existing configurations without allowing potential customers to create their own configurations, view them in 3D, or use augmented reality (AR). While searching for better solutions, Automata continued to use JigSpace as their main visualization tool.

Inspired by innovations in the robotics industry, Automata decided to partner with the CanvasLogic team to revolutionize the way life sciences equipment is sold—using an interactive visual configurator. Automata chose to implement a full-fledged visual configurator featuring real-time 3D rendering of the product being configured, AR capabilities for placing the laboratory in the client’s environment using either an iPhone or Apple Vision PRO.
